Adults aged 18–65

Specialist care for younger adults living with neurological conditions.

Alongside nursing care for older people, Tynefield Court is registered to care for adults aged 18 to 65 with physical disabilities. It is a small part of what most care homes do, and a large part of what we do.

Conditions we care for

Our staff are experienced in meeting the needs of both older people and younger residents living with neurological conditions. We care for people living with:

  • Huntington's disease
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Parkinson's
  • Cerebral palsy
  • Ataxia
  • Stroke
  • Epilepsy
  • Physical injury following accident
  • Other neurological conditions

We also provide general nursing care and end of life care. Every plan of care is drawn up by a registered nurse and reviewed with the resident and, where they wish it, their family.

Why the building matters

A home you can move around independently.

Independence is the thing people are most afraid of losing. The home is on one floor and every area is reachable in a wheelchair, including an electric one — so getting to the lounge, the conservatory or the garden is not something that needs arranging with anybody.

  • All on one floor — no stairs or lifts anywhere in the home
  • Full wheelchair access throughout, including electric wheelchairs
  • Large bathrooms able to take specialist bathing and hoisting equipment
  • En-suite wet rooms in a number of bedrooms
Day and respite care

Not everyone is looking to move in.

Day care

Day care gives relatives a break from full-time care while the person still lives at home. Call the home and we will talk through how it could work.

Respite care

Respite stays are available at Tynefield Court, whether that is a planned break for a family carer or a period of recovery.

Visiting

Talk to us about whether we are the right home.

Every prospective resident has an assessment of their needs carried out by a registered nurse before admission — at home or in hospital, whichever is easier. It is there to make sure we can genuinely meet those needs.
